Education New Zealand's April update highlights positive experiences while leaving room for individual challenges.
Positive feedback from Indian international students is drawing attention to the importance of community and arrival support alongside academic quality, according to an April update from Education New Zealand.
In its 30 April 2026 chief executive update, the agency said Indian students reported a highly positive overall experience, with strong ratings for education quality, people and community connections, and arrival and orientation. It linked the observations to International Student Experience Survey results.
The update does not give a new Auckland-only percentage for Indian students. Its account is a national observation and should be read with that scope in mind.
Separately, an official Study with New Zealand article about the 2025 survey reported that 87 per cent of international students rated their overall New Zealand experience positively. That figure covers international students generally and does not isolate Indian respondents.
For prospective students assessing an Auckland institution, the feedback suggests questions worth asking before accepting an offer. What happens during orientation? How can students meet classmates? Where can they obtain help when they encounter an academic or personal difficulty?
These are practical features of the student experience that a course title or tuition quote may not explain. Comparing institutions therefore involves looking at support and belonging as well as programme content.
Positive survey findings also do not describe every student's circumstances. An encouraging national result cannot establish that all Indian students have the same experience or that any particular student's concern is unimportant.
The value of the update is to identify what students appreciate and what prospective applicants can investigate. For Auckland readers, it provides a starting point for asking more specific questions about the campus and course they are considering.
